rerun: educational philosophies, in up to 20 words

Because this blog has recently attracted a new learning-leaning public, I thought it might be time to retread an older post I tossed up about 6 months ago about educational philosophies.

Here's mine:

Schools are not benign. Kids learn to be what they're labeled relative to other students. Then they bear that out.

What's yours? The only rule is this: You only get up to 20 words.

Visualize this thing that you want, see it, feel it, believe in it. Make your mental blue print, and build.

It's a quote that I found, but it is a pretty good mantra with multiple layers of meaning.

Here's mine:

Learner's growth is not found in a graph; rather, it is found in plant roots' inclinations; teach to that.

This is a Zappa quote that was never intended for education, but i think it works:

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible"

Learning is as natural as breathing. Treat it that way.
